Ashford's story begins with vision. In 1908, Dr. Ernest Fahnestock — a New York surgeon and celebrated patron of medicine — purchased the 115-acre George W. Stillwell farm in Shrewsbury and named it Shadow Brook Farm.
He engaged architects Lewis Colt Albro and Harrie T. Lindeberg to design a stately Georgian-style mansion. Completed in the summer of 1910, the transformation turned a working crop farm into a gentleman's country estate of extraordinary beauty.
More than a century later, that same timeless architecture, manicured gardens, and impeccable service continue to create unforgettable celebrations.

Rod's Shadowbrook
New owners rename the estate Shadowbrook, earning a stellar reputation for its elegant atmosphere and gourmet cuisine. The Oak Room is expanded with sweeping garden views.
The Regency Room
The Regency Room is added, giving Shadowbrook the ability to host two separate events beneath its art deco chandeliers and wall sconces.
A Renaissance of Restoration
Major renovations evoke the grandeur of the early 1900s — 11.5-foot antique doors, a honeycombed English castle ceiling, and a golden 32-light Biltmore Hotel chandelier at the heart of the grand staircase.
